Kiefer Sutherland
Kiefer Sutherland plunked down almost a million bucks in what prosecutors say was a cattle investment scam -- and the alleged perpetrator is being prosecuted.
Michael Wayne Carr convinced Kiefer to invest $869,000 ... in return, prosecutors say, Carr would go to Mexico, buy steers and sell them for a huge profit in the U.S.
Kiefer bought a ranch in Montana and pursued rodeo competitions -- he even won some roping contests. But according to the San Joaquin County D.A. in central California, Carr never bought the beef and sold cattle that he never owned. Carr is charged with 12 felonies, including grand theft and embezzlement.

Gerard Butler
Street performers are a dime a dozen around Southern California's Venice Beach area, but one violin player hit just the right notes for Gerard Butler on Sunday.
Sources tell PEOPLE that the actor spent much of the day on L.A.'s west side, attending a private Haiti benefit in Santa Monica before hitting Venice Beach with a couple of pals. At the end of the night, heading back to his car, Butler stopped to chat with a woman who had recognized him while playing violin outside on the street.
After talking for only a few moments, the two began making out. After a few smooches, Butler left and returned home to his Los Feliz house alone. It's unclear if he did the right thing upon leaving and threw a few dollars into the woman's violin case for her trouble.

Kevin Federline
For Kevin Federline, the very public struggles came with a private pain, as his 2006 divorce from Britney Spears triggered depression and overeating.
"Once you get depressed, you don't really feel like doing anything," Federline, 31, tells Access Hollywood. "You're kind of discouraged about yourself and then the weight gain too, or that makes me more depressed. … I mean, it's a combination of all of those things."
The difference for Federline was that his troubles played out on a public stage.
"Everybody knows what happened with me and Brit," he says. "I'm not going to say that's the total cause of it but, I mean, just not being happy with myself was probably the main part of my depression." With Spears touring again and her affairs under the control of her father, Federline says, "I'm really happy for her. I'm very happy for her."

Paula Abdul Dancing?
Paula Abdul has a million reasons to appear on "Dancing with the Stars." ABC has offered Abdul a $1,000,000 development deal, with one catch -- she has to appear on "DWTS," sources tell TMZ. ABC has been going after Paula for a few years now, trying to get her on "DWTS." According to the proposed deal, ABC would allow Paula to do "The X Factor" with Simon Cowell. TMZ is told Simon and Paula met a week ago to discuss the show, and it looks like it will happen.
Paula has to make a quick decision – TMZ is told the ABC offer is contingent on Paula doing "DWTS" this season, which starts in March. A rep for ABC says they don't comment on prospective cast members.

Another Reason Why Radio Is Better Than Television!
If you're reading this sitting down, you might consider standing up.
In a provocative look at the impact of sedentary behavior on health, a new study links time watching television to an increased risk of death. One of the most surprising findings is that it isn't just couch potatoes who were affected—even for people who exercised regularly, the risk of death went up the longer they were in front of the TV. The problem was the prolonged periods of time spent sitting still.
Australian researchers who tracked 8,800 people for an average of six years found that those who said they watched TV for more than four hours a day were 46% more likely to die of any cause and 80% more likely to die of cardiovascular disease than people who reported spending less than two hours a day in front of the tube.

It's Official!
Amid sinking ratings and worried affiliates, NBC announced Sunday that the Jay Leno prime-time experiment will end Feb. 12.
NBC confirmed it will yank the comic's 10 p.m. nightly hour once the Winter Olympics begin, and it hopes he will accept a half-hour version of his show at his old time -- 11:35 p.m. -- instead.
At least one prominent comic is defending NBC's controversial shakeup of its late-night stars, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon: Jerry Seinfeld.
Seinfeld, whose iconic sitcom aired on the network during the '90s and '00s, praised NBC's vision in moving Leno to prime time, even if the gamble didn't quite work out as planned.
"This was the right idea at the wrong time," Seinfeld said while promoting his new reality show, "The Marriage Ref," in Los Angeles on Sunday. "I'm proud that NBC had the guts to try something."

Late Night Hijinks!
Are Jay Leno's days in primetime numbered?
The future of NBC's "The Jay Leno Show" is in question as Web reports Thursday triggered all sorts of scenarios for the troubled program.
What is clear is that the network is reconsidering its commitment to Leno at 10 p.m., with moving him back to late-night being a credible option.
In such a scenario, Leno would return to 11:35 p.m. for a half-hour program, with Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon shifting back a half-hour to 12:05 a.m. and 1:05 a.m., respectively. If he agrees to the plan, O'Brien would retain "the Tonight Show" name for his show.
